Know your heart
Heart Disease is the biggest killer in Australia according to recent government research, causing almost 50000 deaths annually. The prevalence of heart disease is expected to rise as the population of Australia continues to age in the next few decades.
However, heart disease is preventable. We are here to help.
Risk factors for cardiovascular disease are
- Smoking
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Excessive alcohol consumption
- Insufficient physical activity
- Poor diet
- Obesity
- Depression
Family history and increasing age are also risk factors for heart disease. This is why regular check-ups are essential in maintaining good health. There are usually no symptoms of heart disease, and therefore, regular assessment of risk factors is critical for early diagnosis and treatment.
