Q: I have some of the risk factors that commonly lead to heart disease, what do I do?
A: Speak to your GP and ask for a referral to a heart specialist if required.

Q: I have been given a referral for the Cardiac Care Centre, what’s next?
A: Contact us for an appointment as soon as possible. Please make sure you advise the Receptionist if your referral is for a consultation or a specific test.

Q: What do I need to bring with me for my appointment at the Cardiac Care Centre
A: A copy of the referral letter from your GP is essential, a list of your medications and dosage is also helpful. New patients should also bring their current Medicare card, any other relevant medical records and results. Your GP can advise you.

Q: I have had a consultation with the Cardiologist, what’s next?
A: The cardiologist will refer the test/s that you may require at your initial consultation. The tests that you need will depend on your individual symptoms and health concerns.

Q: How do I book a test?
A: Our Receptionist will be happy to book the required tests for you at the end of your consultation. We can also assist with booking offsite tests where possible.

Q: Do I need to prepare for any of the tests?
A: For any of our onsite tests, you may eat and go about your normal activities unless otherwise informed. You will need to wear comfortable clothing. You should dress in an outfit which allows you to undress to the waist. You will be required to remove your top, but you will be given a surgical gown to wear throughout all the procedures. Certain medications might need to be avoided prior to your Stress Echo, however, your Cardiologist will inform you if required. Q: How do I get my results?
A: Privacy laws prevent patient results to be discussed by phone or email. Please make an appointment to discuss your results with your doctor once all the recommended tests are completed.

Q: Where can I get more information on a test for which I’ve been referred?

Q: Does Medicare cover any of the services I would receive at the Cardiac Care Centre?
A: Yes, Medicare will contribute towards the charges incurred by patients for all services provided at the Cardiac Care Centre, with the one exception of the ABP monitor. This is payable by the patient.

Q: What are the fees involved with a visit to the Cardiac Care Centre?
A: The fees vary depending on the service for which you visit us. Our Receptionist will be happy to provide you with the fees chargeable for your service and the respective Medicare Rebate.
